A new model of this thing is on the way, these are from last year. The syma S031 is a certifiable DOG until further notice. It does NOT come with this- I added a real battery, it comes with a nimmie pack. The stock charger it comes with, destroys those same packs as it has no auto-shutoff at all.The stock motors are good for maybe ten flights, then no longer have the power to lift the copter. This is my #1 worry about the "new and improved" model on the way: are the motors any better? If not, a higher-quality battery is a complete waste of time. One thing's for sure, you can't call it ugly. The metal side-plates are pretty much cosmetic, and removing them in the interest of longer life probably would be a good idea. The syma S031 is way overweight, compared to other copters in its size class, it's twice the weight. The Syma Clone war: S031, S032 (equally short-lived), the S107, and one of Helizone RC's contract-manufactured-by-Syma Firebirds. 3S, 1350mAh LiPoly cell is way to good to be installed in this. with the added juice, I got 3 more flights out of it, then the motors/PCB were SHOT. So this batt's now in an RC truck. If you look close at the Syma S031, you'll see that all the metal sideplates do is hold the charge jack and plug. What a complete waste of time, and I had TWO of them to work with. My cheapo balance charger on the job. Next to the intakes on the Killbucket Truck. Notice the different materials used for the gears. I smell revision. Also note the old-school radio antenna wire. The Syma S031 is RF-controlled unlike most 3-channels. Most are IR. S032 is also radio-controlled, not infrared. Tail gear drive is robust, no issues THERE. Unless you have a slightly bent motor shaft, like this one. It still worked OK, though.

Artsy-fartsy shot. Washed up on the rocks, it is dead, but still good-looking, wah. It is very frustrating to have an essentially NEW copter wear out in the first week of ownership. The blades still look relatively new as well. The Shamecopter. Shortly after taking these pics, I burned it and its twin, so I would QUIT taking them back out of the garbage can. Really. Not even scuffed, it's ready for the landfill or recycle center, where it ultimately landed. Horrible soldering should be a portent... Can't fault the fit and finish, though. Outside of the s032, I cannot think of a toy that's disappointed me more. All the more maddening, as the smaller look-alike S107 will go a hundred flights or more without ANY problems. Good looking junk. Kapton tape is not cheap, and I pretty much wasted a lot of it setting this up. If I was an S107 Syma, I'd demand that one of us change our clothes. Note the uber-skinny motor wiring, this cannot be helping. A model to be avoided until further notice. I have an updated one on the way...and will report on same when it gets here.

Please let us know how it is after you get it. Hopefully new and improved, but then could they make it any worse than it was before.

I have a fair amount of confidence...the people sending it to me have seen my Viking Funeral Vids, and in fact had sent me oneTWO of the copters they watched burn.
I don't think YOU would send me another copter like that, unless you KNEW it would be better received, no?

Still no sign of the new and improved S031 sample... I may have given them pause to send it to me...we'll see if one shows this week. Otherwise, still a turkey.

You post reads like the spam it is. try a bit harder to make it sound like you're not the seller, colorapples. ;D Again, large 3-channel copters are dangerous junk, and do not last!

That's very nice heli, I must say that It is very fast and attractive heli which can fly indoor and outdoor places. If anyone have Syma S031 and want to replacement some spare parts, then can go with bestsaleseveryday979.webs online site which provides all type of spare parts with reasonable price.
