The Fry's you walk through differs from the one you browse. I am always surprised when I see the same item in both places. My understanding is that they may as well be different companies with different product channels.
Fry's has a unique retail methodology: suppliers bid on and rent the shelf space their products occupy. That's why Fry's has 9 TV sets at similar price points all the time. I suspect the online presence is similar, and just about anything could show up in either, without the other.

woah. what a crazy business. i'd like to see one. we have a bizarre german grocery store called aldi around here. you can rent a shopping cart for .50 while you browse...feels like an old 60s grocery but with the added touch of tvs, transistor radios, recliners right next to the vegetable juice.
is fry's strictly a west coast thing?

I ordered some parts from them just before they stopped the free shipping and was still able to use the " modelxheli " coupon code for 5% off atleast. I see there is also a " s107 " code for 10% off the S107 at least that helps some.

none of those coupon codes assuage the real issue.
the no free shipping and higher costs makes them not the, ahem, "attractive" buying option they were for most people.
i got railroaded in a thread discussing my poor experience with xheli on rcg. now those same folks from the thread are discussing purchasing all manner of cheap helis from all manner of places in india and the like, all to save a buck. most of the transactions haven't gone as planned. yet, when i discussed xheli, i was railroaded and dismissed as "off topic".
curious, cause in the same thread folks talking about this positive experience or that from a myriad of retailers, but my talking cold hard facts about what took place at xheli is off topic.
indeed. indeed.

I'm sure your familiar with the folks that were giving you a hard time. That is just the way some over there are, but I guess you can find that on most any forum.

i can and do find it on most any forum. just a little disheartening when we are all just a bunch of rc dorks and the anonymity of the internet just sends some people into a frenzy of guff-giving. see this link for further pontification on the point. www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/3/19/teeehehehe.

Visited a Fry's this week while on business in Houston. The heli aisle was a sad, sad place Many 3-ch models I had never seen before, virtually all of them looked to be X-mas returns with bashed up boxes, chipped blades, missing parts etc. Mostly non-gyro, crazy flourescent colors, POS looking things. At least they were discounted from $37.99 to $27.99  Only one of even minor interest was 2 off-brand S026 chinooks. One was flopping around inside the box, the other looked unopened. Both $37.99.
