Borrowing the term coined by Killbucket, what have you speedfreaks done to put more pep in your 3-channel's step?
My second S107 went under the soldering iron soon after arrival.
First order of business was installing a bigger 6020 tail motor and prop from a 6020 that died trying to charge it with a reversed-polarity S107 USB. Doh.
Syma thoughtfully included enough extra motor wire to (gently!) pull the S107 motor housing straight off the tail boom, clip the wires and solder on the 6020's motor leads. A tiny strip of leckie tape wedged between the boom and slightly larger 6020 motor housing keeps it vertical.
Slipped on the 6020 fuselage (very good fit) and ditched the landing skids, but then needed even more weight in the back to balance the porky new body:
This arrangement was certainly FAST, but wouldn't hover worth a damn and spent more time crashing than flying. Probably all that extra weight located far away from the CG.
So, back on went the skids and swapped the ~5g 6020 fuse for a 2g Walkera one attached at the rear chassis screws:
She's still easy to get out of shape and takes sharp reflexes to bring back to a stable hover, but thrilling to swoop around my little LR NASCAR style.
She can generate some impressive lean angles, which also means blade strikes. So far she's got over 25 flights and at least 6 BSs, with zero broken parts.
Can't wait until the weather allows me to set her free outdoors.
Her ~32g total weight is enough to build up some serious momentum, and I think she'll cut through gentle breezes without breaking a sweat.
What Speedmods have you done?
