I was thinking about a VW just the other day when I had to use the ice scraper on the inside of the windshield of my car.The motor for heat/defrost won't work.lolI lifted the hood and everything is packed with snow from the storm we had a few days ago.To cold even after running the car to pick-up kids from school to melt the snow out.

I wanted to do some preventive lubrication on my s107s (I'm building a fleet), I have a small bottle of stuff called zardoz which I believe is krytox a dupont synthetic lubricant. I use it on the bottom of my snowboard to keep moving in our good old cascade concrete. It is inert and able to withstand high temps and pressures. I want to know if there are any parts I should focus on and if there are any I should avoid? Can you lubricate the motors? Would there be any likely benefit? I realize these are ultimately throw away toys but it would be cool to give them as much life as possible.

Krytox is IDEAL, and won't melt off. Plus, it's edible! (Krytox is a "food grade" lubricant, and is non-toxic, and biologically inert). Zardoz...ROLF, I bet Sean Connery is STILL wishing he hadn't been in that.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zardoz

Any areas on the heli I should avoid lubing?

You don't need to lube the gears themselves, and it would attract dust to them.
The shaft bearings are really the only parts that move, and would need any lubricant.

I do believe they are the same polarity. Double-check with a Google or two, but I think yes.

Hello killbucket First post here. New flyer (~1week) as my GF got me one of these buggers for the holidays way too much fun and way addictive been searching around the web for a few days and seems like you have a very active online presence gj *tumbsup* I have/had a falcon X (777-112) -flew the piss out of it for a few days - prolly messed up teh battery in my zeal,...long story-short the tail motor stoped working. Replaced it with a V-Max rear motor (i harvested from a V-max carcass missing only the main blades -got it at teh mall toystore for parts). Had to reverse the polarity, and lost some cool tail light LEDs in the process. Interesting issue: at rest on the right joystick the tail motor spins (wickedly fast too!) have to give it a little up till it stops - not that bad of an issue - thoughts/comments/reasons? Now after a few flights i noticed the circuit board started to smoke. heli is now having some intermitancy issues prolly going to get a new circut board and go back to a stock tail motor oh and i ordered a S107 last night... also wondering what type of main blades people like to swap with these little minis and how they alter performance i may eventualy try to rebuild that Vmax depending on how my falcon X repairs go and assuming i dont' have to get a new controller anyway thanks ~

Well, swapping motors into these circuits can be dodgy, as you've found. There can be drastic differences between two similar-looking ones.
I'd move forward to the new model, keeping in mind the cost of whole copters rather than parts.
So far, I have not seen "hot-rod" parts like blades, shafts, etc for the smaller birds, and it does seem like a market gap...
I keep old birds for parts, but find that I seldom need them for spares.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I think the battery is toast on the falcon, so i will replace that and see if that solves some of my issues - then replace the tail motor with a stocker. But due to the fact u can get these for 25-30 bucks shipped, i see your point. Kinda wish my gurl didn't get it at a kiosk in the mall for 60... meh.
In regards to blades,
Do you know if the Chinook blades (S022?) are a strait swap, don't know the length on those? Was also looking at S032 blades as a possible experiment.
My falcon wings are about 75 mm.

Hi Killbucket
Any thoughts as to why an S107 insists on taking off backwards for a foot or so, until out of the ground effect, when it ascends vertically as it should? Sometimes the backward movement is sufficient that the tail boom trim hits the ground and flips the 'copter over.
The same 'copter can tends to drift sideways at times, and all this happens in a draught free room. Lovely flight characteristics for the rest of the flight though.

Hi KB
Yet another question for ya!
RE s107 blades. I've got two s107s and I've also just got some new blades off eBay. Now, so far as I can tell, they are genuine (correct warning etc etc) but they have different id markings. Set one is marked '1' on the top blade and '4' on the bottom blade. Set two is marked 'A2' on the top, 'B1' on the bottom and the third set is 'A2' on the top and 'B2' on the bottom. Each set seems identical to the others, so any ideas why they're identified differently? What have you got on yours? Does it matter? Do I care - they work ok - perhaps I should stop obsessing!!

I'm interested to know just what parts are interchangeable between the Syma s022 and the Syma s034 big Chinook. The 34 is the latest and upgrade model from the 22 and has the gyro and different control freq./transmitter but it looks to me like the blades, shafts, body shell, gear, battery all may be interchangeable- does anybody know what is and what isn't interchangeable?
